Full-Time Foreman

The right candidate should possess the following:

  • 5+ years of handyman, framing, painting, and building/mechanical system experience
  • Experience with all painting (taping, compounding, plastering, sanding, priming) and finishing trades (tile work, grout, caulk, silicone), as well as light plumbing, electric, carpentry, drywall, and appliance install.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with our staff, as well as our vendors, suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • Must be a good problem solver, extremely well-organized and detail-oriented professional with a high emphasis on the ability to communicate and follow-up on tasks through completion


Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform installations/repairs as directed by project management
  • Construction install per company standards
  • Inspections and maintenance of projects
  • General building cleaning
  • Waterproofing and stucco experience preferred
  • Perform basic mathematics (take-offs and dimensional verification)
  • Other duties as assigned (site cleanup, site access, etc.)
  • Interact professionally with clients
  • Report required repairs to project management
  • Plastering and painting
  • Plumbing - be able to repair faucets, showers and toilets
  • Able to comfortably lift 50 pounds
  • Minor electrical (replace light switches, outlets)
  • Send pictures of installations/repairs via text/email to project management


Requirements: Must be 18 years old. Driver must have valid CA drivers license.

Project Manager

Construction Manager responsible for planning, procuring (scoping), implementing (organizing), controlling (scheduling) and closing commercial construction projects.


Responsibilities:

Superintendent

Provides effective, organized and consistent supervision and management of construction work for all trades and vendors.


Responsibilities:

  • Co-manage construction with sub-contractors.
  • Maintain clear and complete understanding of drawings and scope.
  • Scheduling.
  • Manage quality standards.
  • Coordinate trades to ensure consistent, productive work flow.
  • Generate and distribute three-week look aheads.
  • Manage safety program and requirements on-site.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years verifiable experience.
  • Three verifiable client references.
  • Ability to create and maintain three-week look aheads using Microsoft Project.
  • Computer literate and capable of effectively using Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional spoken and written organization and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to light self-perform when prudent.

Internship

Empress Builders internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term.

 

Role Summary

The Engineering/Construction Intern will work closely with the Empress Team and shall help with administrative and management activities, associated with our construction projects. 


Responsibilities:

  • Attends various internal and external meetings and produce meeting agendas prior to the meeting and meeting minutes after the meeting, for team follow-up
  • Organize and maintain various documents and logs, including but not limited to, drawing packages, specifications, project schedules, procurement logs, RFI logs, submittal logs, quality control logs, completion logs, material take-off logs etc.
  • Prepare, manage, route and post Request for Information (RFI's)
  • Assist with weekly/monthly reporting, to include photo documentation for progress updates
  • Coordinate activities with other Empress Builders staff, departments, and public agencies
  • Assist with obtaining and processing monthly payment applications and change order requests documentation for all direct vendors, subcontractors.
  • Support quality audit programs, oversee contractor and/or vendor corrective actions, and ensure a quality project conforming to plans and specifications


Qualifications:

  • Completion of your sophomore year by May 2021 in an accredited 4-year program for Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, is preferred, however others will be considered if candidates display an eagerness to learn with the aptitude to perform.
  • To successfully perform the typical tasks and duties of the position, the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities listed below are required:
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deliverables at once
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Takes initiative and strives for increased responsibility
  • Demonstrates emotional maturity, punctuality and dependability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite and BlueBeam/PDF software
